Welcome

Welcome to Mytchett Athletic Football Club. It is my pleasure and privilege to be Chairman and a coach of what I believe to be a fantastic grassroots football club. Mytchett Athletic FC was founded in 1971 and now boasts more than 350 playing members, aged from as young as 4 right up to and beyond 40. The aim of the club is to promote football in the local community to both boys and girls.

As a club, the health, safety and welfare of every child is our first and most important priority. This is closely followed by our commitment to providing a happy and inclusive environment for children to learn and develop their football skills. All of our coaches are FA qualified, CRC-checked, and trained in First Aid and Safeguarding.

Our volunteers are important to us. Clubs like ours cannot run without the support and hard work of coaches and parents. We are grateful for the time and commitment our volunteers put into the running of the club and organising football for the children. We are always on the lookout for new volunteers to help with coaching or the administration or the many other ways you can help. So thank you to all our volunteers and sponsors without whom we couldn’t function.

Our club is open to all players regardless of gender, race, nationality, ethnicity, colour, religion, sexual orientation or perceived ability as a footballer. We adhere to The FA Respect Codes of Conduct and value sportsmanship, fair play, respect and positivity.

Please remember, it’s a game, the coaches are volunteers and the players are children who always try their best and learn more every time they play – positive encouragement always works best for the individual and the team.

Hear what players, parents and coaches say about Mytchett Athletic

I joined Mytchett Athletic as a player in about 1973 and played for about 5 seasons. It was all different in the 70s, subs were 50p a week, once a week every manager and player met at the hall (now scaffolders), opposite Frimley Lodge Park and every week we chatted and talked about all things football and the game ahead - of course no computers, emails or mobile phones so we had to meet up!
My memories of the Club in the 70s; loved it as a player (of course it was 11 a side, 45 mins each way every game), coaches were dedicated and memorable - Bob Guest, Bill Canon, Sgt Milligan and Robinson - all provided a safe, enjoyable and perfect environment to play and to do what I loved doing; playing football with my mates!

Roll on 40 years and I came back to the Club with my son with the same mentality. Not surprisingly the world's moved on but the ethos of the club remains pretty much the same. Frankly we as coaches are making memories for players - and providing a platform for players to learn the game, play with their mates and just enjoy themselves.

Coming back to Mytchett was an easy choice. Eight seasons later and I’m nearing the end of my coaching stint with the Club that has players at heart, a super set of volunteers and one I hope is around in another 40 years.
A serious thanks to everyone who makes every season happen and to every player, one word, Enjoy.

Coach U16s
I like Mytchett because it is easy to make friends, the bar is set high for each squad depending on the efforts of the players.

I especially like my team as we play against great teams and have an awesome squad that pushes me to be the best.

Player U10s
My son has been playing for Mytchett for 2 seasons now and I would totally recommend it as a great club. The coaches not only make football fun for the kids but are also very dedicated into each player’s development individually and as part of the team.

Match days are always anticipated as players play with purpose and passion thanks to the dedication of the coaches.
