Mytchett Athletic were pleased to help out at the Ash Parish Council Fun Day on Saturday 14th July.
Despite competition from the Farnborough Air Show and Guilfest, the event still managed to pull in a good sized crowd who braved the intermittent showers to support local businesses, charities and voluntary organisations who were on hand to provide fun, food and entertainment.
The club were given a generous area of the grounds where we were able to set-up a mini-soccer pitch and facilitated several hours of fun for local children of all ages.
Looking on it’s great to see the children playing, refereeing the game themselves, keeping the sides fairly balanced, ensuring it’s competitive and staying fully motivated.
The skills of the older children are picked up and copied by the younger ones. The highlight of the day was watching an 8 year old perform a rainbow flick to beat a 10 year old opponent and then volley the ball into the goal!
