U10 Kestrels League Cup Final

After another successful group stage in the League Cup, dare I wish we could win the cup again. Our opponents were to be Liss Athletic Spitfires, who we’d only played once before but had also had a successful group stage.

We arrived on the day with some very excited Kestrels eager to get going. The boys had their normal slow start, then suddenly all my Christmas’s came true Lol.

Through some great team work and battling for the ball Lewis was able to break free, get past two of their players before providing a great pass to Owen who hit it first time into the back of the net to make it 1-0. The boys were really excited and this is when our game really started and the Kestrels showed their ability as a team.

Liss created a few chances but with some fantastic defending by Kai and Huey and some unbelievable saves by Marvin they couldn’t get the ball in the net in the first half. With some great tackling and passing from Sam and our other midfielders we created another goal which was finished off in style by Isaac to make it 2-0.

The boys carried on playing really well, keeping the pressure on, then we were given a free kick which was scored by Isaac. The first half ended with the Kestrels 3-0 up.

They went out feeling happy and ready for the second half but knew the game wasn’t over yet. Liss managed to get the ball in the back of our net, which made the Kestrels even more determined. We created a few more chances with Joe having a couple of good shots that their keeper saved, even hitting the inside of the post.

This was a brilliant and hard fought 3-1 win which was down to team work and determination. Every one of these boys is an important part of our team and should be very proud of their achievements so far.
