U10 Kestrels Cup Winners

After a few weeks off for the Kestrels, Camberley Boys was next up on the tournament schedule. A slow start in the group losing the first but winning the following four, although a difficult game against our Hawks that put up a lot of resistance. Well done Hawks!

Coming second in the group we faced Bracknell in the quarterfinals and with a good team performance we dispatched of them quite comfortably.

Next up AFC Reading in the semi-final, the team that had beaten us in the group and knocked the Ospreys out in the Quarter final! With things looking edgy at the beginning and both teams struggling to make an impact it was Reading that eventually broke the deadlock and showing a couple of changes were needed for us. With that done we really took hold of the game and with that came some good football and chances to get an equaliser which came with an outstanding finish. Heads were up and so was confidence and with the constant pressure we were putting them under they buckled and conceded our winner!

Into the final against Windlesham, we knew they were a good side and the boys knew some of the players too. It was an even game with chances going begging at both ends but neither team able to get a winner into extra time we went, so it was now or never with penalties looming. With only 3 mins and how tight the game had been there would probably be only one opportunity and only one goal to settle it and it fell to us, with a great pass in behind their defence it was one on one only to be calmly slotted past the keeper giving us the Cup win!

We don’t make it easy for ourselves but we never give up! WELL DONE KESTRELS!!!
