Ash Parish Tug of War

In a typically English Saturday afternoon Mytchett Athletic FC supported the Ash Parish Council’s Jubilee Celebrations Summer Fayre.

This successful club achieved victory on a slightly different playing field notably in the age old tradition of Tug of War winning two out of the three categories.

Children enjoyed a fun day out at the fayre

The first final of the afternoon saw children from across the club’s teams who were all under 16. They were faced in the final by a formidable team from Aldershot whose members could have quite easily looked at home at Twickenham wearing an England shirt!

The best of 3 was not needed as after a difficult first round win the second was an easy pull-over.

Following hot on their successes members of the Veterans team bravely took their place and again found them in a final head to head.

With the Mytchett Athletic children cheering at the side with words of encouragement such as “Just do it like we did it Dad…” their first round was a prolonged battle which saw victory by the smallest of margins.

As they changed ends there was a clear winning atmosphere present leading to the second pull-off being a far better effort by the team.
