Presentation Evening Review

In the 40th Season of Mytchett Athletic FC the recent Presentation Evening held at the Mytchett Community Centre was testament to the club’s successful community activities and vibrant football.

With only weeks to spare Amanda Goward and Jo Hopkins stepped in to the breach and took up the reins in organising the evening.

A sunny and warm Friday evening was enjoyed by over 250 children. From future international stars who play in the U5s through all age groups to U18s, whose recent successes include topping the table of the North East Hants Premier League.

The evening demonstrated the club’s commitment to recognise every child as an achiever in the true spirit of the FA’s Charter Standard Club Programme, for which Mytchett Athletic FC is proudly recognised.

A spirited and enthusiastic mini-tournament saw the children enjoy a relaxed, well organised kick-about. This was then followed by a short presentation and words of thanks by the newly appointed Chairman, Geoff Butler, who has been a long standing servant of the club. Each child received an individual statue for their season’s commitment to their club and team.

The Awards were presented by former Mytchett Athletic player Kevin Betsy, who went on to play professional football for a number of clubs including Premiership side Fulham. Kevin said “How could I not take the opportunity to come along. This is how I started and it’s great to see the club still doing what they do best”.

A glorious evening concluded with refreshments which included a burger for the kids.

Club Secretary, Paul Spooner, wishes to thank on behalf of the club’s Executive Committee the parents and extended family who week in week out undaunted by weather or distance support every child in every match. He also thanked the efforts of everyone involved on the evening that contributed to making it a success.
