Comedian and Crystal Palace fan Eddie Izzard has urged more people to volunteer in grassroots football and their local sports clubs as a whole.
The video above, produced by Olympic legacy charity and Be Inspired partner Join In UK, sees the star discuss how important and vital volunteers are to the everyday running of a local side.
“No one gets to a World Cup without starting at places like this, where it is the little things that matter most,” said the Ocean’s 12 actor.
“Coaching the Under-9s, washing kit, fundraising – volunteering is the backbone of all sport in the UK and 7/10 clubs still need more volunteers to do the little things,” Izzard adds.
