MAFC 22nd Annual Tournament Review

Mytchett Tournament 2014

We would like to thank all of the teams for supporting us at our 22nd annual tournament. Just as last year the weather was perfect and two days of football were played out in glorious sunshine.

The amount of positive feedback received has been overwhelming and we wanted to share this, which is why you can read what people have said in the comments section below.

If you have any suggestions on how we can make things even better next year we would love to hear them, so please leave us your comment.

We were delighted to have Jewel Windows as our Tournament Sponsor this year. Jewel are a local company and it’s great that we can help each other. So when the time comes to replace your windows and doors, or perhaps a new conservatory or orangery, please give them a call and mention Mytchett Athletic FC.

There are a number of other companies and people we must thank, starting with the Mytchett Centre for the hire of the pitches and facilities. Thanks to Ivor Baker Awards for the supply of the trophies, to Woods Butchers in North Camp for the BBQ meats, to DE Photo for their professional photography services, Paul Ibbotson for the PA system, IGB Print for printing our programme, our advertisers, our Ice Cream seller, Gordon, who helped to keep everyone cool over a hot couple of days and last but not least to our referees who did a great job throughout.

Without the help of our small army of volunteers, lead from the front this year by Clive Spooner, we just wouldn’t be able to stage the event. So to all the parents, players, families and friends who helped with all aspects from car parking, to BBQ, to transporting equipment and even making cakes, a big big thank you!

We are fortunate to have a number of people that help out over the entire weekend, not because they have children of their own taking part, but because it’s so enjoyable and rewarding. It’s a real labour of love, but these folks won’t be around forever, so we need to be ready to step up.

A reminder that the photos taken by DE Photo can be viewed & purchased online via their website http://www.dephoto.biz.

You can view a small sample of their photos from the tournament on our gallery page.

Below you will find the list of winners and runners up from the Cup and Plate knockout competitions. Well done to all the teams who took part.

  • I thought the whole tournament was excellent and every team got a fair amount of play time. The rules were clear and the refs excellent.

  • Thank you for a great tournament.

It was our first time and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

The organisation was faultless and the facilities just right.

I have only received positive feedback form my parents.

Thank you once again and hope to see you next year.

  • As always this tournament is well organised, very friendly and the boys always walk away saying they can’t wait for next year’s one.

As a manager with the plate format it allows you play everybody knowing you are not going to get knocked out at the league stage with one bad result.

The only down point to pick up on is the fact we won the plate competition in the U10’s which was my teams first success in any league or tournament format but you had awarded it to Camberley Town Youth Rascals.

Hopefully next year our name will sit proudly in that column.

    Thanks for a great tournament.

  • For our first tournament it was a really good experience, the boys loved every minute and getting a medal, well it was difficult to get the medals off them at bedtime ;o)

Thank you again, and we will def be signing up for next year (without prompting) so please put us down for 2015.

  • Our son played in the U10s at your tournament.

We had a fab day. The games all started promptly and for the first time in our history we were not only on time with them but actually ahead!!

We did have a little waiting around between some games but that’s ok.
The weather was better than it has been at your tournament so that was a bonus.

    Everyone helping out was friendly.

All in all a great tournament.

    Thank you very much

  • On my and the Predators behalf I would like to say thank you for having us at your tournament.

For us it was a very enjoyable afternoon, very friendly and a very well organised tournament. I feel it is good for the team to be involved in events like this as it something slightly different i.e. 5 a side and playing against teams from other leagues/places – good for their football learning curve!

Credit to you and your club and thanks again.
