Welsh 3000’s Challenge – 28th June 2014

The plans have been drawn and the brave volunteers have stepped up to the challenge:

  • Kevin Hygate
  • Martyn Lewis
  • Peter Mitchell
  • Graeme Smith
  • James Wickens

We shall all be pushing ourselves to the limit, to help benefit Mytchett Athletic FC’s “Football for All” – a very local charity, which does great work in providing physical activity in a safe environment to vulnerable children in our area. I strongly encourage everyone to take a look at the charity’s details below and make themselves aware of the service and value they provide to our community.

By undertaking the Welsh 3000’s challenge we hope to raise awareness of the work that Mytchett Athletic do. We’re also aiming to help them raise vital funds that will be used towards providing valuable equipment and facilities for them to continue their wonderful work.

If you are able to help them by getting behind us and making a donation, we can promise you are helping make a difference to our community.

Thank you for your time!

I understand some people don’t like online payments. If you wish to make a donation, but prefer to do it in person – Just pass your donation on to any one of us and we’ll gladly add it to the total.

THE CHARITY

Mytchett Athletic FC’s “Football for All” project provides physical activities for boys and girls excluded from participation in sport by virtue of their special needs and disabilities.
This project provides an opportunity for these young vulnerable people to be part of something active, enjoyable and fun ensuring that they are not excluded from sport just because of their differences. This project tackles many of the issues that these young people face on a day to day basis as well as providing a little social respite for the parents and carers.

The premise for the challenge is simply:
“You are required to have stood at the top of all 15 of the mountains of over 3000ft in Wales within the space of 24 hours, without using any form of transport.”  The total length of the hike between the start point and down from the finish point can take over 30 miles, with an approximate total ascent of around 13,000ft.
