The Club has been facilitating an annual football tour to Denmark since 2003. This year the Club had two representative teams from this year’s U14 and U17 age groups, travelling to Denmark to take part in a Danish football tournament, the Kattegat Cup. The tournament was held in Grenaa, Denmark running from Thursday 31st July – Sunday 3rd August.
Both teams performed extremely well finishing 2nd in their respective groups with some excellent wins against international opposition (better than England !!).
Unfortunately both teams were eliminated in the knockout section of the tournament at the quarter final stage, the U17s beaten by the competition winners. We received nothing but complements from the opposition and their coaches about the quality of football played but also on the attitude and friendliness of the boys. Gareth, Matt and Stuart the tour coaches were so very proud of the way they played and represented the club. And a big thanks to Jackie and Lisa for their help with the admin this year.
To view details about the tournament or check the teams’ progress, visit the Official Tournament Website. You can also search YouTube for Kattegat Cup to watch videos of the tournament and follow events on the Kattegat Cup page on Facebook.
Pictures are to be loaded in the gallery from all the players and we would invite them to share their comments and impression on this post.

My son Matt Hyde had a fantastic time. Unlike some of the other lads, this was his first trip to Denmark and it was a brilliant experience. He can’t wait to go again and could easily have stayed for another week. For my part, I want to thank Gareth, Matt and Stuart for looking after them so well and letting them have the freedom that boys of that age want. Also, thank you so much to Lisa for keeping us posted every day. Probably like most of the parents, contact with my son was virtually non existent so Lisa’s emails were invaluable.
Conor had a brilliant 4 days and will be going back if at all possible. He said the level of football was excellent from Mychett and the other teams, and with a little bit of luck and no injuries we could have gone further. He enjoyed his walkabout on Sunday evening (the boys will know what I am on about), apparently walking back with some Norwegian girls!!!
A great big thank you to Lisa for all the organisation and the emails and thanks to Gareth, Matt and Stuart for making sure the boys had a great time.

This is the 2nd time Regan has been and he has enjoyed it both times. It was nice to see that he scored after having a horrible season x
Again thank you to everyone involved in organising an truly amazing opportunity for the boys x
