After a challenging 2013/14 which saw the team win just 5 matches, the Falcons began the new season in the U9 Isthmian League playing 7-a-side. In their very first game it looked as though they may struggle but they battled back from 3-0 down to win 4-3 in the final quarter.
After this the boys got to grips with 7-a-side and played some really nice football leading up to the first knock-out cup competition, with 7 wins and 2 losses. The first trophy event of the season, the League Vase, was all new for the boys and saw them really bond together as a team. They worked out how to grind out a result and went on to win the League Vase Final 3 – 0.
We were then moved to the U9 Hellenic Division. This didn’t seem to phase the boys as they carried on playing some really nice football. Leading up to the next cup competition the boys had 5 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss. The second trophy event was played in a league format where the boys won their first 2 games before coming through a decider with late victory. Having reached their second final, the boys got off to a flyer scoring inside a minute. Then came a very nervy 20 or 30 minutes before the second goal was scored and killed off the tie.
It was a great effort to win 2 trophies. They finished the season with 22 Wins, 1 Draw and 3 losses. These boys have come such a long way from their debut season where they were losing by some big scores. We could not be more proud to manage such a great bunch of lads that always try their hardest.
